♣ When conducting hair cutting education, one of the most frequently asked questions and commonly used terms among the students participating in the education is 'On the Base.

♣ 'Did you cut it on the base, instructor?'

♣ Let me explain the essence of 'On the Base.'

➀ The subject of hair cutting, the hair panel (hair section), consists of three components: 

the 'base plane,' the '(triangular prism-shaped) section,' and the '(rectangular prism-shaped) hair panel.'

➁ During actual cutting, the 'hair panel' is positioned between two fingers:

.........   It appears as if there are only two components: the 'base plane' and the '(triangular prism-shaped) section.'  ..............

➂ The 'hair cutting axis (line),' which is the line being cut, is positioned between the fingers.


The four elements of the 'On the Base' structure:

'Base plane,' '(triangular prism-shaped) section,' '(rectangular prism-shaped) hair panel,' and 'hair cutting axis (line).'


♣ Meaning of 'On the Base' cut:

➀ The 'base plane' of the 'section' and 'hair panel' forms a tangent with the scalp at the center point of the 'base plane.'

➁ The 'hair cutting axis (line)' is positioned perpendicular (normal) to the 'base plane,' i.e., in the direction perpendicular to the vertex of the scalp plane in relation to the center point.

➂ In other words, cutting along the 'hair cutting axis (line)' moved perpendicular to the 'base plane' is referred to as the 'On the Base' cut, as defined in the context of hairdressing.

"모발을 '(원의)호'라고 가정하고 길이를 구한다면 헤어커트에 대한 모발 길이의 표현과 사용 그리고 전달에 크게 무리가 없을 것이라 여겨집니다."   (1) (네이프에서) '80mm' 길이의 모발(hair)을 표현하고자 한다면 말입니다.       즉, 이 말은 '80mm'의 '호'를 구하자는 말과 같습니다.   (2) 따라서, '80mm'의 '호(즉, 모발 길이)'를 구하는 간단한 식은 :     " 2πr * (중심각의 크기/360) " <호의 길이의 식> 와 같이 간단하게 구할 수 있습니다.   (3) 물론, 혹자께서 "난 원호가 아닌 '스플라인'으로 구하고 싶다"라고 한다면,     '스플라인' 역시 '원호'를 두 개 이상 조합하여 쉽게 구할 수 ...

Relationship between hair cut and angle (헤어 커트와 모발 각도의 상관 관계)

  The angles that most hairstylists have loved so much  and hair cut  may not have anything to do at all with  each other in some situations. In the figure below, all three hair cut situations produce  the same result. 일반적으로, 1960년대 부터 헤어커트를 실시하는 헤어스타일리스트들은 커트되어지는 모발군집(헤어패널, 섹션)이 나타내는 각도에 초집중하고 있다.  그러나 버티컬 커트를 실시할 때에는 헤어패널이 임의의 기준과 이루는 각도는 전혀 관계가 없다는 것을 알 수 있게 된다. 만약, 상기와 같은 상황을 인지하지 못하거나 의도적으로 회피할 경우에는 허울 좋은 '디스커넥션'이란 이름으로 정확한 헤어커트를 만들어 볼 기회가 도무지 없을 지도 모른다 라는 점이다. 아래 이미지는 컴퓨터가 간단하게 연산 처리하여 렌더링 해준 삼차원 이미지를 저장한 것이다. 그리고 이 그림은 위에 언급된 상황이 사실에 초 근접하다는 것을 보여주고 있다.
